Question

How does ActivityHero integrate with Aeries, what is required for setup, and how is supplemental attendance data transferred into Aeries?

Answer

ActivityHero connects to Aeries using a dedicated Aeries API credential with read-only access to the required API endpoints. The connection allows ActivityHero to retrieve information from Aeries for use within the ActivityHero platform.

The setup process typically includes the following steps:

  1. An Aeries administrator creates a dedicated API credential in Security > API Security and grants read access to the required endpoints.
  2. The API certificate and the district's Aeries base URL are securely provided to the ActivityHero implementation specialist.
  3. The ActivityHero implementation specialist configures the connection, tests the integration, and schedules the initial data synchronization.

At this time, supplemental attendance data is not written back to Aeries through the API. ActivityHero can generate attendance export files for configured sessions, and those files can be imported into Aeries Supplemental Attendance if applicable.

For attendance reporting, districts may be asked to provide the Aeries session IDs used for Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP) and Attendance Recovery programs. A recommended approach is to create a dedicated Aeries session for ELOP programs and a dedicated Aeries Supplemental Attendance session for Attendance Recovery programs, then provide those session IDs to ActivityHero.

The exported attendance data can then be imported into Aeries Supplemental Attendance.
