To approve or deny students' Service Learning hours that have been entered, the Service Learning Administrator goes to Service Learning > Svc Lrng Approval. The page is available only to users with Administer permission to Service Learning Data and Log (SLL). Organizations that students add must be approved separately before hours can be logged for them; see Service Learning Organizations and Approval.

The Requested Hours list shows every pending log entry for students at the school (all schools when logged in at the district level), not just the students of one Service Learning Coordinator. Each row shows the Student, the Area (and whether they are Student or Parent hours), the Organization (marked Pre-Approved Org or Not Pre-Approved Org), Contact, Date / Time, Hours, Description and Uploads. Click a file under Uploads to download it.

To approve the service learning hours the Service Learning Administrator clicks the Approve button. To deny the hours, the Service Learning Administrator clicks the Deny button. The Deny/Reject Request window opens.

The Service Learning Administrator enters the reason for denying the hours and explains to the student how to resolve the issue, then clicks OK.

Approve and Deny each send an email (Service Learning Log Approval or Service Learning Log Denial) to the student's email address, the parent email address on the student record, and every portal account linked to the student. The denial email includes the reason.

The row then shows Approved or Denied under the buttons. Until you leave the page, the decision can still be changed: after approving, Deny stays available, and after denying, Approve stays available. The next time the page is opened, only pending entries display. Entries can also be approved or denied later from the student's Service Learning page, on the Service Learning Log tab.
