The Schools tab is used to select the schools to be included in the extracts. 

Note:  Before creating files, always identify and confirm the schools selected on the Schools tab prior to processing any CALPADS extract files to ensure the schools selected are the schools desired to be reported to CALPADS. Verify the settings on the Other Options and Code Translations tab as well.

The Schools tab will allow you to select which schools are to be included in the CALPADS extracts. The buttons have different functionality and work as follows:

• All - When the All button is selected, all schools will select for the user. The All schools will remain as selected until the page is reloaded. The user can toggle between tabs and all schools will be honored. Refreshing the page will reload the last schools Saved.
• None - When the None button is selected, no schools will select for the user. The schools will remain unselected until the page is refreshed. Refreshing the page will reload the last schools saved. 
• Save - When the Save button is selected, whatever schools are currently selected will be saved. The next time the page is loaded, the same schools will be pre-selected. To save the default schools, select Default button first, then select the Save button. This will ensure that the default schools always load when the page is refreshed.
• Default - Any school tagged as Inactive (LOC.TG), tagged as DNR (LOC.DNR checked), or any Summer Schools (LOC.U=1) will default as not selected when the Default button is pressed. Selecting the Default button will temporarily select all active schools. In order to keep the default settings as the schools selected, the user must select Save. Otherwise, when the page is reloaded, the last Saved settings will take affect and only display schools previously saved.

To select or de-select any school, click the check box next to the School name. All selected schools will remain selected when toggling between tabs. Any process performed on any of the CALPADS extracts will use the currently selected schools, even if the schools haven't been saved using the Save button. It is important to always ensure the schools selected on the Schools tab are the desired schools for creating extract files for CALPADS. It is not recommended to select and deselect various schools then save, as this could change the pre-selected schools and impact the extract processes.
