Overview

The Final Marks tab will display the grade reporting marks that are set up by the school. For schools that produce Grade (GRD) report cards the Final Marks is populated from the Grade Codes (Valid Marks) (GRC) table which is set up on the Grade Reporting > Configurations > Valid Marks page.  For schools that produce Standards Based Grade (SBG) report cards the Final Marks is populated from the Standards Based Valid Marks (SBV) table which is set up on the Standards Based Grades > Configurations > Standards Based Options > Valid Marks page. Since the Standards Based Valid Marks can vary between grade levels, the Final Marks for Standards Based Gradebooks will depend on the valid marks for the grade level of the students added to the gradebook, or the grade level selected on the Final Marks tab when a new gradebook is created.

Please see Grade Reporting - Valid Marks for more information about Grade Reporting Valid Marks.

Please see Standards Based Options - Valid Marks for more information about Standards Based Grades Valid Marks.

Depending on the Portal Options set for the school, the teacher may have the ability to alter the Low/High ranges to customize the grading scale for the Final Marks. Portal Options could also affect the availability of the Restore School Recommended Defaults button and the Display the Final Mark to Me checkbox.

  • When the Portal Options > Grades >  Display Only Marks for Teachers, Parents and Students (Applies to SBG Grades and Gradebooks) option is selected, then the Final Marks tab in SBG gradebooks will not display the Low/High values and the page will be in read-only mode. The Restore School Recommended Defaults button and the Display the Final Mark to Me option will also not be available. NOTE: this portal option only affects SBG Gradebooks. Please see Standards - Applying Different Mark Types to Terms for more information.
  • The Final Marks area can also be locked on the Portal Options > Gradebook > Lock Options. Please see Gradebook Option Locking for more information.

The Restore School Recommended Defaults button will pull the low and high values from Aeries if they are defined on the Grade Reporting > Configurations > Valid Marks page or the Standards Based Grades > Configurations > Standards Based Options > Valid Marks page.

The option Display the Final Mark to Me will update the same option on the Manage Gradebook > Options tab. Checking this option will display the Gradebook overall mark for each student on the Gradebook Scores by Class, Scores by Student, Scores by Assignment, and Scores By Standard pages.
