Issue

Users encounter the error “Free and Reduced code is invalid” during CALPADS reporting. This error is often tied to the use of the P (Paid) code, which may not be properly translated in the NSLP Code Translation table.

Resolution

1. In CALPADS Extracts, update the NSLP Code Translation Table NSLP Add the following codes:

• N – Not participating
• P – Paid

        Ensure these codes are properly mapped for CALPADS reporting.

2. Run the Student Data Audit Report:

•         When running the report, check the box labeled: “Only Include Codes w/Translations                  on the Report” 

This ensures that only students with valid, translated NSLP codes are included in the report.

Verify Reporting Filters:

Confirm that filters or logic previously set to exclude N and P codes are still in place.

The error typically disappears once the report is filtered to include only translated codes.
