Student Locator Cards provide students' schedules in a compact, easy-to-use format. Locator Cards can be printed in a variety of sizes, formats, and sort orders. Locator Cards are printed at the school level.


Filter Reports by "student locator cards" or navigate to Reports > Scheduling > Student Locator Cards.


The Student Locator Cards page provides four tabs:  Style of Locator Cards, Term to Print, Sort Options, and Print Options. At the right, a list of students allows for printing specific students' Locator Cards. Click on a student's name to select or de-select a student. If no students are selected from the list, the Locator Cards will print for all students.


On the Style of Locator Cards tab, select whether Student Locator Cards are being printed from the student's current class schedule and the Master Schedule or if Scheduling Locator Cards are being printed from the student's course requests and the Scheduling Master Schedule:


Next select how many Locator Cards per student (1 or 2) and how many Locator Cards to print per page (2 or 4):


For example, 1 per student, 4 locators per page will print four students' Locator Cards on one page. Each Locator Card would be approximately a quarter-page in size. 


Alternatively, if 2 per student, 2 locators per page is selected, the same student's Locator Card would print twice on one page, and would be approximately a half-page in size.


The other options are 2 per student, 4 locators per page; 4 per student, 4 locators per page; and 1 per student, 2 locators per page.


The Terms to Print tab displays the terms available to print:


Select a term or print All Classes. The Print scheduled students only option will print only students with at least one section in their schedule. Active students with no schedule will not be printed.


The Print only students with schedule changes since a specific date option displays when the MST/SEC option on the Style of Locator Cards tab is selected. This option allows a specific date to be defined to determine which locator cards print based on schedule changes that happened as of the defined date. It will look at Course Attendance (CAR) to determine which schedule changes to include. 


The Sort Options tab provides two options:  how the entire set of Locator Cards should be sorted and how the Classes schedule on each Locator Card should be sorted.


Under Sort Locator Cards by, select how to sort the entire set of Locator Cards:


Sort Locator Cards by Counselor:  the set of Locator Cards will be sorted alphabetically by Counselor. The Counselor's name will be printed at the bottom right of each schedule:


In the example above, the last student printed for Counselor Monarch is at the top left. The first student for Counselor Wilson is at bottom left, then Counselor Wilson's students continue in the second column. 


Sort Locator Cards by Period. When this option is selected, Period and Date fields will be displayed. These fields should be filled out with the Period and Date during which the Locator Cards will be handed out:


A valid date from the calendar must be entered. The Locator Cards will be sorted by the student’s class schedule. The teacher's name for the selected period will print on the bottom right of the Locator Cards. If the student does not have a class during the specified period, they will be sorted with teacher name "Unassigned."

Note:  when the Period option is selected, the Locator Cards will be sorted by the Teacher for the student's selected Period and Date in the Master Schedule. This enables a future schedule (based on course requests and the Scheduling Master Schedule) to be handed out to students in one of their current classes. 



For schools using Flex Scheduling, a Time option is available to select the time in which the Locator Cards will be handed out. 


The staff member's name will print on the bottom right of the Locator Card for their class that meets on that class calendar date and flex period according to the time entered on the option. If a student does not have a class on that date and time then it will be grouped for and printed with the word "Unassigned".

Sort Locator Cards by Student:  This option sorts the entire set of Locator Cards alphabetically by student name.


Sort Locator Cards by Grade:  This option sorts by Grade, with the students listed alphabetically within each grade.


The Vertically Sort the Locators checkbox will sort the Locator Cards so that when the stacks of paper are cut, the presorted stacks can be placed on top of each other to create a pre-sorted stack. Due to the complexity of the Vertical Sort, it prints all students (not just selected students).


The Sort Options tab also defines how to sort each schedule on the Locator Cards:


Sort Classes by Period, Term, Days orders the schedule first by Period, then by Term, then by the Days or Split Term when the section meets:

If checked, the Show Line Break checkbox will display a heavy line between the Terms on the schedule. 


The Show Line Break checkbox is only applicable to the Sort Classes by Term, Period, Days and Term, Days, Periods options and does not display on the schedule for the Period, Term, Days option.


The Print Options tab controls the information that prints on each Locator Card.


Each student's Locator Card can be printed with their Perm ID Number, State ID, or Neither ID:


The selected ID number is displayed on the top line:


A student's Locker Number, Locker Combination, and/or a Barcode of their Permanent ID or State Student ID can be printed on the Locator Card:


In the example below, the students Locker Number and Combination, plus a Barcode of their Permanent ID number are printed on their Locator Card:


Other information options are provided on the Print Options tab:


Print student information. If the option Print student information is not selected, the student’s Birthdate, Gender, Telephone Numbers and Address will not be printed on the Locator Cards. With the option selected, a Locator Card appears as follows:


With the option unchecked:


Print section information. If the option Print section information is not selected, the Class Period, Days, Term and Section Number will not be printed on the Locator Cards:


Print teacher information.  If not selected, the Teacher Name and Room will not be printed on the Locator Cards:


Three options allows you to prevent the Locator Cards from displaying certain Classes. These options are dependent on whether the Locator Cards are being printed from the Master Schedule or Scheduling Master Schedule.

  • The Hide Classes Tagged Not to Print on GRD option will hide classes tagged with an X in the Tag field in the Master Schedule or Scheduling Master Schedule (MST.ST or SMS.ST = X).
  • The Hide Classes Tagged Not to Print on ATT option will hide classes tagged with an Y in the Tag field in the Master Schedule or Scheduling Master Schedule (MST.ST or SMS.ST = Y).
  • The Hide Classes Tagged Not to Print on Both will hide classes tagged with an Z in the Tag field in the Master Schedule or Scheduling Master Schedule (MST.ST or SMS.ST = Z).

All three Hide options can be selected at the same time if needed.


The student's Verification Pass code can be selected to print on Locator Cards:


A Message can be added to the Locator Cards. Enter the Message in the text field and it will print on all Locator Cards. The message can be shaded and/or bolded:


When all selections have been made, click the Run Report button to print the Locator Cards:
