The Student Summons Call Slip report will create call slips to be given out to students. The message, time or period can be printed on the report. Pre-defined messages are available and also the ability to create custom summons text messages.
The Student Summons Call Slip report is accessible through View All Reports in a school or can be accessed by using the Filter Reports box. It is not available at the district level.
The Student Summons Call Slip can also be accessed from the Student Demographic page for the selected student.
NOTE: The Student Summons Call Slip report can be added to My Favorites if used often.
SECURITY
There is a Security area for this report under the Other section. Users with Read permission to the Student Summons Call Slip can select students and messages and generate the summons report. Update permissions are needed to add/edit or delete the Summons Text. This report is not available for teachers.
Report Options
The Student Summons Report Options page will display with 3 tabs available:
- Select Students – Multiple search options are available to locate students.
- Print Options – Allows predefined messages to be selected or custom messages can be entered. A time or period option is available in addition to an option to print a Summary.
- Update Summons Text – displays and allows you to create new messages or edit existing messages for the Summons.
SELECT STUDENTS
A Search by Student, Search by Teacher, Search by Counselor, or Search by Class is available for selecting students depending on the school type. A KEEP or SKIP statement can also be used in Query that will allow you to select specific student’s to print on the Summons Report. A Grade Limit dropdown is available and the report can include inactive students, if needed.
Search by Student: This option allows for searching by name, student number, ID or SEID. Multiple students can be searched by separating each student using a comma, spaces or lines. Available in all school types.
Search by Teacher: This option will appear only in an elementary school and will search using STU.CU field.
Search by Counselor: This option will pull the TN from the STU.CNS field if populated and is available for secondary schools. If the Staff ID based counselor option is enabled, this option will show in elementary and secondary schools and will pull the staff ID from the STU.CNS field. See Staff ID Based Counselor documentation for details.
Search by Class: This option will appear for all schools with a master schedule. A variety of filters is available.
When using the Search by Class option in a school with a master schedule, the following page will display.
Search by Class is available in any school where a master schedule exists. The Filter By has options for Teacher, Section, Period, Course, Subject Area, Department, and Room. An additional filter for Sections w/Students is available to limit the display of classes to only load classes that have students enrolled in the sections. When clicking on a specific teacher, all their sections will now display. Select individual sections or leave all highlighted to print a summons for all the selected teachers’ students. (When no filter is used, students will load for each section they are enrolled in and will be listed multiple times. It is best to use a filter when possible.)
Holding down the Control (Ctrl) key and clicking on sections can select multiple sections.
Click on the Load Students button to add the students to the Search Results box on the lower left. Multiple search criteria’s can be loaded.
From the Search Results student list, select or deselect students individually. The All or None buttons are also available.
Use the Arrows in the middle of the page to move the Search Results students to the Selected Students box.
Only students checked in the Select column on the Search Results area can be moved to the Selected Students area.
Searches can be performed and loaded multiple times to add additional students to the Selected Students box. A summons will be printed for all students on the Select Students box.
UPDATE SUMMONS TEXT
The first time that you access the Update Summons Text form the following default messages will display. These default messages can be edited or new messages can be added.
To add a new message, click the mouse on the Add New Record link:
Enter a Category and the message text that will print on the summons report. The Category can be used to filter messages on the Print Options tab. The Category can be used to filter messages on the Print Options tab. Click the mouse on the Save icon when completed. The new message will now display on the Print Options tab.

Edit/Delete Message
To edit or delete an existing message, click the mouse on the edit icon to the left of the message. The page will change to edit mode and the category and text can be modified. Click on the Save icon after editing the text. To delete the message, click the mouse on the Delete icon to delete the message.
PRINT OPTIONS
After the students to be printed have been selected you must select the message to be printed on the Summons Report. The Print Options tab will display predefined messages and custom messages that have been added.
When a predefined message is selected, it will then display in the Message Text (Editable) box. A predefined message can be selected and then modified or a message can be typed directly into the Message Text (Editable) box.
Use the Message Category dropdown to limit messages to selected categories.
Enter the Date to report if not today. The Time or Period options can be selected. Various print options are available including Print Student Number, Print Permanent ID, Print Birthdate and Print Grade. The One Student per Page will print only 1 student on the page. Two students will print on each page if the option is not selected.
The Print Summary option will include a summary page with the message and all the students listed. Below is an example of the Summary.
When the student selection and printing options have been selected, click the mouse on the Run Report button to generate the summons. Below is an example.
