Once the receipt printer is installed in Windows, the following steps should be followed. The settings below are based on Windows 7.
Verify the paper size. Access does not support a paper length above 22.5 inches; therefore the “Receipt Length” options must be discarded. Instead, select a “Letter Length” option that has approximately the width of the paper being used (at least 3 inches) as the default paper.
Windows 7
- Click Start
- Go to Control Panel
- Select Devices and Printers
- Right-click Receipt Printer
- Select Printer Properties
- Select the General tab
- Click the Preferences button
- Click the Advanced button (at the bottom right)
- Set Paper Size to “Letter length 3.14x11in 48c”
- (OK, OK)
- Device Settings tab
- Set Receipt to “Letter length 3.14x11in 48c”
- Select the Advanced tab
- Click the Printing Defaults… button
- Select Paper/Quality tab
- Click the Advanced button (at the bottom right)
- Set Paper Size to “Letter length 3.14x11in 48c”
If the printer is the “Generic / Text Only” printer:
- Open the Properties window
- Click on the Advanced tab
- Select Print Directly to the Printer
The following are the two printers that were tested with the Readmit Slip and Off Campus programs:
Printer Brand / Model | Printing Method | Connection |
Citizen iDP-3550 | Dot Matrix | Parallel Port |
Citizen CT-S2000 | Thermal | USB |
However, the Citizen CT-S2000 was preferred due to the setup being much easier and it is a better quality printer. Also, USB ports are ‘modern’, whereas parallel ports are slowly disappearing.
