Once the receipt printer is installed in Windows, the following steps should be followed. The settings below are based on Windows 7.

Verify the paper size. Access does not support a paper length above 22.5 inches; therefore the “Receipt Length” options must be discarded. Instead, select a “Letter Length” option that has approximately the width of the paper being used (at least 3 inches) as the default paper.

Windows 7

  • Click Start
  • Go to Control Panel
  • Select Devices and Printers
  • Right-click Receipt Printer
  • Select Printer Properties
  • Select the General tab
  • Click the Preferences button
  • Click the Advanced button (at the bottom right)
  • Set Paper Size to “Letter length  3.14x11in 48c”
  • (OK, OK)
  • Device Settings tab
  • Set Receipt to “Letter length  3.14x11in 48c”
  • Select the Advanced tab
  • Click the Printing Defaults… button
  • Select Paper/Quality tab
  • Click the Advanced button (at the bottom right)
  • Set Paper Size to “Letter length  3.14x11in 48c”

If the printer is the “Generic / Text Only” printer:

  • Open the Properties window
  • Click on the Advanced tab
  • Select Print Directly to the Printer

The following are the two printers that were tested with the Readmit Slip and Off Campus programs:

Printer Brand / Model
Printing Method
Connection
Citizen iDP-3550
Dot Matrix
Parallel Port
Citizen CT-S2000
Thermal
USB

However, the Citizen CT-S2000 was preferred due to the setup being much easier and it is a better quality printer.  Also, USB ports are ‘modern’, whereas parallel ports are slowly disappearing.
