Aeries Analytics Definitions (Indicators)


Analytics Definitions – Navigate to Aeries Analytics > Configs / Functions > Item Definitions. This menu item displays for users with Update permission to Item Definitions (DAI).

Allows creation of indicators (definitions), thresholds, early warning values, student sub groups, and label layouts (performance bands) to help analyze the data.

Select Early Warning Indicator on a definition to include its early warning values in each student's Total Early Warning Points.

5.   How will you see results?

  • Summary Data tab – shows the number and percentage of students at each level for the selected definition (indicator), by school and grade, based on the label layout. Click the people icon in a cell to see the students.

  • Student Indicator Details shows individual student results
    • This page shows the total early warning points, each indicator (definition), the Start Date and End Date the student qualified at each level, the qualifying value, and the early warning points assigned to each indicator
    • Can display for a single date
    • Has options to Show LCAP (California only) and Only show Early Warning Indicators
    • Updates nightly when Updating Indicators Nightly is turned on in Analytics System Config. Indicators can also be processed on demand from the Summary Data tab.

Collaborate 

  1. Decide on and create all definitions (indicators).  Possibilities are:
    • Tests and Subgroups for each
      • All Parts of ELPAC
      • SBAC ELA and Math
      • CAASPP Interim Assessments
      • College Tests - AP, SAT, PSAT
      • Benchmarks, etc.
    • Grades from Gradebook, Report Cards or Transcript for a subject area
    • Graduation Requirements (i.e., credits completed) for a subject area
    • CCI (College Career Indicator) (California)
    • Texas districts can use their own state tests, such as STAAR and TELPAS
    • Attendance Percentages and Thresholds
    • Programs – 504, Gate, Migrant, etc
    • Field Values and Field Value Ranges – EL Status, Gender, User Codes, etc
    • Counts – Discipline Violation, Discipline Disposition and Intervention counts
  1. Discuss how you want to see the data in terms of charts, lists, graphs
  2. Create Dashboards
  3. Run reports
  4. Create Supplemental Attendance records and/or Intervention records, or KEEP students, from a dashboard item's student list (not available to teachers)
  5. Review the data
  6. Modify curriculum
  7. Repeat the process

 

Collect the Data

  1. Enter all definitions in Aeries Analytics Item Definitions
  2. Update the indicators – can be set to update nightly
  3. Create Dashboard Items to view the results in different formats
    • Analysis Definitions tell us what we are analyzing
    • Dashboard Items tell us how we are looking at the definition.
    • In this example, the Current Gradebook Grade definition is used to create a Chart item that will show in the dashboard as a pie chart showing percentages of students scoring within each performance band, broken out by school for all levels and grades.
    • We might look at one definition in more than one way – creating several dashboard items from one definition.

4. View the Dashboard – Select the appropriate dashboard from the list on the left side of the Analytics Dashboard page. The list is grouped into My Dashboards, Shared Dashboards and, in California, LCAP Dashboards.
