How do I create a new school year in JumpRope?
- After the end date for the year has passed, the New Year Wizard is available in Setup - Schools. Here's more: How to Start the New Year
I'm not sure if we need more terms or grading periods, we've used 'marking periods' in the past. What are they and how do I know what we might need or want?
- It is OK to simply start the year with the default term "202* Term 1" and matching default grading period "202* Whole Year". These are created automatically when the new year is created (see above). If needed, additional terms and grading periods can be added later. Many schools only have one of each.
- JumpRope's Grading Periods 'pull' assignment scores into them based on the assignment's due date. Teachers don't have to select a marking period when they create an assignment; the grading period itself will find the assignments that it needs based on the assignments' due date.
- If you used multiple 'marking periods' in previous gradebooks, it's likely that you do not need the same JumpRope Grading Period date ranges set up; less is more and Grading Periods can be added later. JumpRope Grading Periods are much more flexible and lower stakes than other gradebook 'marking periods'. Let us know if you have questions!
- Be sure to enter start and end dates for any term for the year. See Setup - Terms.
- Here's more: Terms vs Grading Periods
I don't see any grading periods available when I view a mastery report, what should I do?
- Make sure that the Term Start and End Dates are set. Setting these will automatically create a matching Grading Period for your mastery reports.
When will my teachers have their classes in their Gradebook?
- When you create a new year, JumpRope Support is notified. Our team will check on the integration between your SIS and JR and enable it for the new year. It can take 24-48 hours to see updated data for the first time for the year depending on if your SIS has updated data.
- If you use STARS custom reports, change the school year, set term start and end dates, and then upload your STARS reports.
Our schedule and enrollments are not yet finished/complete in our SIS. Can we still start a new year in JumpRope?
- Yes. JumpRope's integration process has validation rules in place to account for this.
Our teachers need to be able to access their gradebook to update scores from last year. How do we allow that?
- See Permissions for Non-Default Terms section in Managing Terms.
For the following questions and others, please contact support@jumpro.pe directly:
- We are going to be using a new/different SIS (Student Information System) for the coming school year. What do we need to do to ensure a smooth transition of data in JumpRope?
- We'll be adding another school (or removing a school) from our existing district-wide implementation. What do we need to do to move these changes forward in JumpRope?
- We'd like to consult with JumpRope specialists on our existing settings and discuss what options we might have. These settings might include scoring scales, mastery bar colors, customized language, standard bank changes, etc.
