TWEDS 2026–2027 Texas State Reporting Updates

This article tracks all Aeries updates required for the 2026–2027 TWEDS data standards (Texas Education Data Standards). Updates cover SDK version changes, Fixed Code and Ed-Fi Code Mapping updates, new or modified Aeries UI pages and fields, and Ed-Fi entity additions or removals.
As items are developed, tested, and released, each row will be updated with a Release Date. Items with no date listed are either in development or planned for an upcoming release. Check back regularly or watch for Aeries release notes.

SPED Tier of Intensity Framework
TEA is implementing a new SPED framework for identifying Special Education students. This new data must be entered for each special education student so that it is included in the first PEIMS Attendance submission of Reporting Period 1 attendance data (due 10/8/2026).
Special education students will be reported with both the existing Instructional Setting and the new Tier of Intensity data elements for the entire 2026–2027 school year.
SPEDS – Video Camera Submission
During the 85th Regular Legislative Session, Senate Bill (SB) 1398 added Texas Education Code (TEC) §29.022. TEA began collecting data on the installation of video cameras in an eligible special education classroom or setting in response to written requests from parents, staff members, principals, assistant principals, board of trustees, and governing bodies.
The 89th Regular Legislative Session passed House Bill (HB) 2, which included an amendment to §29.022 that moved the collection of video camera data into the Texas Student Data System.
Local Education Agencies (LEAs) will report through the Special Education Video Camera Submission requests made under this section and actions taken by an LEA in response to a request, including the number of requests made, authorized, and denied.

Special Education Language Acquisition (SELA)
SELA has been reinstated for the 2026–2027 school year.
Due Date: June 24, 2027
PEIMS Fall Enrollment Submission (Submission 6)
Includes:
(1) all students enrolled on the first Friday in October whether or not this is a day of instruction, with their Special Education program determination (if applicable), or
(2) students in grades 7–12 enrolled at any point during the school start window (first day of school through the last Friday in September).
All LEAs report data for the PEIMS Fall Enrollment Submission.
Due Date: October 15, 2026
PEIMS Fall Submission (Submission 1)
Represents the state of the LEA as of the PEIMS Fall snapshot date, which is the last Friday in October, whether or not this is a day of instruction. Local Education Agencies (LEAs) shall report all students served and staff employed on that date. Education Service Centers (ESCs) and LEAs shall report current school-year budget data. All LEAs report data for the PEIMS Fall Submission.

As TEA updates the TWEDS data standards each school year, publications occur in December, March, and July. Each publication includes a Software Development Kit (SDK) with Ed-Fi Entity and Descriptor Table changes required in Aeries for correct schema, Ed-Fi Code Mapping, and JSON structure.
