School districts may apply to the Texas Education Agency to provide a flexible attendance program under the following:
- High School Equivalency Program (HSEP)
- Optional Flexible School Day Program (OFSDP)
Students participating in these flexible attendance programs will have daily attendance recorded in minutes per day using the Supplemental Attendance application in Aeries. (See Supplemental Attendance Overview and related articles).
A student must meet specific eligibility requirements to participate in a flexible attendance program. See the Student Attendance Accounting Handbook on the TEA website, Section 11 Nontraditional Programs for more information on student eligibility requirements.
1. Code the student's ADA Eligibility (STU.SP) and Track (STU.TR) on Student Data > Demographics > Student Data 1
- Students eligible to participate in a flexible attendance program - use code 7-Eligible Flex Att Prg
- Student not eligible to participate in a flexible attendance program - use code 8-Ineligible Flex Att Prg
- The Track (STU.TR) should be a valid attendance track for the school where the student is enrolled
2. Add Attendance Enrollment for the student
- In the Flex-Att (ATT.FA) field, select the flexible attendance program for the student
3. Updating Attendance Enrollment should also update Enrollment History
- The Flex-Att (ENR.FA) field on the Enrollment History record should reflect the same flexible attendance program selected on the Attendance Enrollment record for the student
The Flex-Att (ENR.FA) field from Enrollment History will be used by the following Attendance reports to determine correct calculations of total minutes and equivalent days for the student: 1. Student Attendance Detail Report 2. Campus Flexible Attendance Summary Report 3. District Flexible Attendance Summary Report
