Issue
The Populate All-Day Code Automatically option is enabled in School Settings
Teacher marks a student absent
Teacher changes the absence code to Tardy
All-Day Code is not updated, it remains as absent
Environment
Period Attendance where student's only have one period
- Example: K-8 school where grades K-5 have one class and grades 6-8 have multiple classes.
Cause
Aeries is working as designed. Once a student has an Absence Code, even Unverified (usually "A") the code will not be updated via the Populate All-Day Code Automatically option, because this option only updates blank all day codes for the Teacher Portal.
Resolution
1. Disable the Populate All-Day Code Automatically option in School Settings
OR
2. Create a process at the school for when a student is late
- Example: Communication between teacher and office staff to remove the A from the All-Day code
