This error occurs because students were reported as Suspended or Expelled with zero (0) Incident Disciplinary Action Duration Days.   If zero days are being reported, Disciplinary Action Modification Category Code (disposition) must  be reported as Enforcement Suspended (100) or Shortened (200).

Resolution:

Determine if the disciplinary action is a suspension or expulsion.  If a suspension or expulsion with no modifications (enforcement suspended or shortened), then confirm that the correct disposition was entered.  Check CALPADS Code Value Translations and confirm that the dispositions have been properly mapped (DSP.DS).

For Suspensions:

  1. Enter the correct number of days for the reported disposition - suspension.
  2. If a partial day suspension, enter a decimal percentage value in the Days (DSP.DY) field.  For more information, see:  How should a partial day suspension be entered in Aeries?
  3. Confirm that the student's attendance also reflects a suspension for the corresponding days.

For Expulsions:

  1. Enter the correct number of days for the reported disposition - expulsion.  Expulsions will need an end date.  If it is indefinite, enter the last day of the school calendar.
  2. If the student no longer attends the district, exit (inactivate) the student as determined by the district.
