The data element StudentAcceleratedEducationPlan in the StudentEducationOrganizationAssociation entity is reported as 'true' for a student that did not perform satisfactorily on an assessment instrument under TEC 39.023(a) or 39.023(c) for two or more consecutive years in the same subject area and the district developed an accelerated education plan for the student.
A student that has an accelerated education plan in place must be coded on the Interventions page using code 'AEP' and indicating a Start Date for the plan. Once the student has completed the plan, an End Date should be entered on the existing record.
A student with an accelerated education plan must also have accelerated instruction data coded on the Activities and Awards page indicating the subject, participation, hours assigned and hours completed as this data must also be reported for these students. Please refer to: Coding a Student with Accelerated Instruction Hours
Follow these steps to code a student with an accelerated education plan:
Update Code Table
The code 'AEP' must be added to the Update Code Table page for table INV and field CD. The data extracted for the StudentAcceleratedEducationPlan data element will be based only on the existence of an Interventions record for the student where the Code (INV.CD) is 'AEP' and the record has been active within the current school year.
- Set the Table to INV and set the Field to CD.
- If code 'AEP' does not appear in the list, click Add New Record to add the code to the table and field and save.
- Once saved, code AEP should now appear in the list of codes for the INV table and CD field.
Interventions
Add a record to the student on the Interventions page using the code 'AEP - Accelerated Education Plan' and indicate the Start Date. Once the student has completed the accelerated education plan, the existing record should be edited to add an End Date.
